In my last post, I teased the new cocktails I’ve been working on for 4th of July. Wait no longer, for here they are! These are all easy to make, and will be appreciated by attendees at just about any BBQ. These will be especially appreciated with some of my Sweet and Salty Patriotic Potato Chips to snack on while the burgers cook!

2 oz. (¼ cup) Maraschino cherry juice
¼ oz. amaretto liquer (optional)

Champagne, Prosecco, or any other sparkling wine
Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Dip rim of martini glass in a wide, shallow bowl of agave nectar, enough to just wet the rim. Dip rim then into a wide, shallow bowl of sprinkles, twist glass until rim is completely coated. Lift glass slightly and shake gently to remove any excess or loose sprinkles. Set glass aside.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add cherry juice and amaretto. Secure the lid of the shaker and shake for about 20 seconds, until shaker feels very cold.
Strain shaken mixture into rimmed martini glass and top with sparkling wine. Add two or three “bombs” (maraschino cherries) and serve.

If you’re after a more natural blue, try my Blueberry Donut Martini!

Don’t those stars look awesome?! It only takes a teeny sprinkle of them to make a dramatic visual impact. They ultimately just melt into the drink like they were never there, and don’t impart a taste or off flavor of any kind. The stars will float on the top of a cold drink for about 5-10 minutes, so don’t garnish ahead of time! Sprinkle and drink– remember that, as well as be smart and safe this 4th! Have fun!
